SabrTrader for Rithmic

Footprint charts and order flow for your Rithmic account

Use the Rithmic login from your futures broker or prop firm and trade from footprint charts, a liquidity heatmap and a SuperDOM. Rithmic sends the book one order at a time. SabrTrader shows it that way.

What one login gets you

A Rithmic login carries everything the order flow tools need

SabrTrader is a Windows trading platform that connects straight to Rithmic for futures. One login brings live trades and quotes, Level 2 depth, per-order Market by Order data, tick history and order routing. Footprint charts, the liquidity heatmap and the SuperDOM don't need anything more than that, and it's the same for a broker account as for a prop firm account.

Why Rithmic suits order flow

The book arrives order by order

Most feeds send one number per price, the total size resting there. Rithmic can also send every single order: when it was added, when it changed size or price, when it was pulled.

SabrTrader keeps that per-order book, and three things read from it:

  • The SuperDOM shows the queue at each price, flags icebergs that keep refilling and highlights limit orders that jump to the front.
  • The liquidity heatmap paints resting orders over time, so you watch a wall build, hold and pull.
  • The chart itself reads the same book, so the ladder and the heatmap never disagree.

If the instrument or your permissions don't include per-order data, both tools drop to aggregated Level 2 and keep working.

No waiting since the open

Footprints that are filled in when the chart opens

A footprint chart has to know how much traded at the bid and at the ask on every price. Rithmic delivers that for the live session and for history.

So when you open an ES or NQ footprint, the earlier bars of the session already carry their bid and ask volume. You don't have to leave the chart running from the open to get a usable picture.

Tick, volume and range charts load from Rithmic history too. What the footprint detects is on the order flow page.

Evaluation or funded

Your prop firm's Rithmic login works as it is

To SabrTrader, a Rithmic account from a prop firm is the same as one from a broker. Only the system name changes.

Pick your firm's system

The System list in the connection form ships with the Rithmic systems of many prop firms, among them Apex, Bulenox, Lucid Trading, Earn2Trade and Tradeify, next to Rithmic's own systems.

Several firms, all connected

Create one connection per login. They stay connected together, each with its own accounts, so an evaluation at one firm and a funded account at another sit side by side.

Copy between accounts

The built-in trade copier sends one account's trades to the others, stops and targets included. See the trade copier for prop firms.

What your firm decides

SabrTrader doesn't create or fund trading accounts. The firm that issued your login decides which system and gateway you use, which markets you may trade and which data you receive. When a login fails, check the system name first.

Have your welcome email open

Connect Rithmic in a few minutes

  • Open Connections in the Control Panel, choose Futures and then Rithmic, and add a new connection.
  • Enter your Rithmic username and password. You get these from your broker or prop firm, not from SabrTrader.
  • Select the system and gateway from your welcome email. Leave the transport on R|Protocol unless your firm says otherwise.
  • Save and connect, then open a chart and add the footprint, the heatmap or the SuperDOM.

The guide walks through all of it and explains every field: Connecting SabrTrader to Rithmic.

Running R|Trader Pro too?

A second market data login with the same Rithmic user can log the first one out. That's what the R|Trader Pro plug-in mode on the R|API+ transport is for: SabrTrader takes market data and history from the running R|Trader Pro, and still sends orders to Rithmic directly.

Before you ask

Rithmic questions we get

Can I use my prop firm Rithmic login in SabrTrader?

Yes, as it is. Enter the username and password your firm gave you and pick the firm's system from the list. Prop firm accounts go through the same Rithmic connection as broker accounts.

Does SabrTrader show Rithmic Market by Order data?

It does. SabrTrader subscribes to Rithmic's per-order book and uses it in the SuperDOM and the liquidity heatmap. Where an instrument has no per-order data, both fall back to aggregated Level 2.

Can I connect more than one Rithmic login at the same time?

Yes. Each login is a separate connection with its own accounts, and they stay connected together. That's how traders run accounts at several prop firms side by side.

Should I choose R|Protocol or R|API+?

R|Protocol. It's the default. R|API+ is for when your firm asks for it, when R|Protocol won't connect, or when you want the R|Trader Pro plug-in mode.

Do footprint charts load history on Rithmic?

They do. Rithmic serves historical ticks and bid and ask volume per price, so earlier bars are filled in when the chart opens. How far back that goes depends on what Rithmic holds for the contract.

Can I trade stocks or options through Rithmic?

No, the Rithmic connection in SabrTrader is for futures. For stocks and options, connect a broker such as Interactive Brokers or Charles Schwab next to it. Both connections can run at the same time.

Is there a Rithmic paper trading option?

If you have a login for it, yes. Rithmic Paper Trading is one of the systems in the list, so a paper login connects the same way as a live one.

Is there a page for my prop firm?

For four of them so far. Each one has the system to pick at login and what the firm's own rules say about copiers: Apex Trader Funding, Lucid Trading, Bulenox and Earn2Trade.
