Every Smart Money Concept, drawn on your chart automatically
Market structure is the language institutions trade in: breaks of structure, change of character, order blocks, fair value gaps, liquidity and premium versus discount. Reading it by hand is slow and subjective. SabrTrader's Market Structure indicator detects and draws all of it for you in real time, so you can stop guessing where the smart money is and start trading with it.
Price is not random. It moves from one pool of liquidity to the next, building higher highs and higher lows in an uptrend, breaking structure when a trend continues, and shifting character when it turns. Smart Money Concepts, or SMC, is the framework for reading that behavior, and it is one of the most popular ways to trade today. The problem is that drawing it all by hand, every swing, every break, every zone, is exhausting and inconsistent. This indicator does it for you, live, on any market and any timeframe. This page walks through every feature and every setting, so you can see the full toolkit before you install it.
The Market Structure indicator ships with every paid SabrTrader plan at no extra cost, bundled with the full premium indicator suite and AI tools rather than sold as a separate add-on. Prefer to try first? Start on the free tier. See plans and pricing.
How to read market structure in thirty seconds
The whole framework rests on a simple idea: in an uptrend price makes higher highs and higher lows, and in a downtrend it makes lower highs and lower lows. As long as that pattern holds, the trend is intact. The moment price fails to make a new high and then breaks the last low, the character of the market has changed, and that is your first clue a reversal is starting. Between those turns, price does not move in a straight line. It leaves behind order blocks where institutions filled, fair value gaps where it moved too fast, and pools of liquidity at equal highs and lows where stops are stacked. Smart money pushes price into those pools to fill large orders, then reverses.
That is the entire game, and it is genuinely powerful once you can see it. The catch is that seeing it in real time, marking every swing, spotting the break the instant it happens, drawing the zone before price returns to it, is a full-time job on its own. This indicator does that job for you, objectively and instantly, so you can spend your attention on the decision instead of the drawing. Everything below is a piece of that automated read.
Why traders choose it
The whole SMC toolkit in one
Swings, BOS, ChoCh, order blocks, fair value gaps, supply and demand, breaker blocks, liquidity and premium/discount, all in a single indicator instead of five separate scripts fighting for space.
It reads the structure for you
No more hand-drawing swings and second-guessing a break. The indicator detects and labels everything objectively, the same way every time, so your analysis is consistent bar after bar.
Tuned to your style
Two detection engines, adjustable pullback sensitivity, and every zone, level, color and label under your control. Scalp the internal structure or swing the external one.
Live trend and alerts
A running trend state on the chart plus break-of-structure and change-of-character alerts, so a shift in the market reaches you the moment it prints.
Built for every structure trader
The SMC / ICT trader
This is your home. Order blocks, fair value gaps, breaker blocks, liquidity, premium and discount and change of character are all detected and drawn to the concepts you already trade.
The swing trader
Read the external structure on the higher timeframe, watch strong highs and lows and the trend state, and let the order blocks and fibs frame your entries.
The day trader
Trade the internal structure and change of character for early, precise turns, with equal-high and equal-low liquidity showing you exactly where price is headed to run stops.
The reversal trader
Change of character is your bread and butter. The indicator flags it the moment structure shifts, and pairs it with the supply or demand zone that caused the turn.
Automatic swing structure
Everything in market structure starts with the swings, and getting them right by hand is where most traders go wrong. Draw them too tight and every wiggle looks like a turn. Draw them too loose and you miss the real break. The indicator labels them for you, objectively and the same way every time: higher highs and higher lows in an uptrend, lower highs and lower lows in a downtrend, so the trend is never in doubt and your read never drifts with your mood.
It goes further and grades each swing strong or weak, because a weak high that fails to take out the prior high is a very different signal from a strong one that does, and knowing which is which is often the whole trade. You can run the classic fractal engine or a price-action engine, and tune the pullback sensitivity in ATR, percentage or ticks, so the swings match the noise of your instrument and timeframe rather than some fixed default that fits nothing. Dial it in once and the structure the indicator draws is the structure you would draw on your best day, every single bar.
Break of structure and change of character
These two events are the heartbeat of market structure, and the indicator draws both automatically with distinct styling so you never confuse them.
- Break of structure (BOS). When price takes out the previous swing in the direction of the trend, the trend is confirmed to continue. The indicator marks it, labels it, and even distinguishes the strong and micro breaks (BMS, SMS and their micro variants), so continuation is obvious.
- Change of character (ChoCh). When price breaks structure against the trend for the first time, the character of the market has changed, and a reversal may be starting. This is one of the earliest turn signals in all of trading, and the indicator flags it with its own dashed styling and color the instant it happens.
You control how each is measured, against the candle close or the wick, how many to display, and the line style and color, so the read matches exactly how you trade. Solid lines for breaks, dashed for change of character, and the story of the trend reads itself off the chart.
The indicator tracks both the external swing structure (the big picture) and the internal structure inside it, with its own internal high and low levels and micro BOS and ChoCh. Read the external structure for your bias and the internal structure for precise, early entries, all on one chart.
Order blocks
An order block is the last candle before an aggressive move, the footprint of where institutions loaded their positions, and it is one of the highest-probability areas price returns to. The indicator finds them for you and draws them as demand and supply zones, with full control over how they are detected: minimum and maximum base bars, base-bar size, thrust strength, and how many to show. It keeps tested blocks on the chart, can hide broken ones automatically, and even paints the base bars so the origin of every move is unmistakable. When price returns to a fresh order block, you are watching for the reaction at the exact price the move began.
Fair value gaps
A fair value gap is an imbalance, a three-candle sequence where price moved so fast it left a gap that was never filled. Markets tend to return to these gaps to rebalance, which makes them precise targets and entry zones. The indicator detects every qualifying gap, filters them by a minimum size in ticks so you only see the ones that matter, and marks bullish and bearish gaps in their own colors. It can also turn a mitigated gap into a breaker block, so a level that failed becomes a signal in the other direction.
Supply and demand zones
Beyond individual order blocks, the indicator maps the broader supply and demand created at breaks of structure and change of character. Choose to draw zones from breaks, from change of character, or both, measured by the full candle or the wick, and set how a zone counts as broken, on a wick, a close, or a premium/discount basis. Broken zones can be hidden automatically to keep the chart clean, and any zone can flip into a breaker block when price violates it. These are the areas where price is likely to react, mapped for you before it gets there.
Premium and discount with automatic fibs
Smart money buys at a discount and sells at a premium, and the indicator draws the Fibonacci framework that shows you which is which. It anchors a retracement to the current swing automatically, marking the discount zone below equilibrium where you look for longs and the premium zone above it where you look for shorts. Every level is adjustable, you can use the standard ICT levels or your own, and you can display them as a normal retracement spanning the swing or as a compact cluster at the right edge. It is the difference between buying because price is low and buying because price is at a discount inside a bullish structure.
Liquidity: equal highs, equal lows and trend lines
Price hunts liquidity, and liquidity sits where stops sit. The indicator marks it for you. Equal highs and equal lows, the double tops and bottoms where clusters of stops build up, are flagged automatically within a tolerance you set, because those levels are magnets that price so often runs before reversing. Trend-line liquidity draws the diagonal lines connecting swings, the trendlines everyone else is watching, so you know where the breakout stops are resting. Put together, you always know where the fuel for the next move is sitting.
Trend detection and paint bars
The indicator keeps a running read of the trend, driven by the count of structure breaks you specify, and shows the current state right on the chart. Turn on trend paint bars and the candles themselves color to the trend, green while structure is bullish, red while it is bearish, so a single glance tells you which way the market is leaning and the exact bar the bias flipped. It is the fastest possible read of context before you take a trade.
Breaker blocks everywhere
A breaker block is a supply or demand area, an order block or a fair value gap, that price broke through and then flipped, turning old resistance into support or the reverse. The indicator can promote any zone into a breaker block when it is violated, across supply and demand, order blocks and fair value gaps, each with its own colors. It is one of the most powerful continuation and reversal reads in SMC, and here it is detected for you automatically.
Alerts, so you never miss a shift
The two moments that matter most, a break of structure and a change of character, can each fire an alert with its own sound the instant they print. Set them once and the platform watches the structure for you across every chart, so a trend continuation or a reversal reaches you even when you are looking away. You trade the shift, you do not miss it.
Two detection engines
Market structure is not one-size-fits-all, so the indicator ships two detection methods. The fractal engine, the default, builds structure from fractal pivots and drives the change-of-character read the way most SMC traders learned it. The price-action engine builds swings and breaks from pure price action. Switch between them, and tune the fractal size or the pullback distance, until the structure the indicator draws matches the structure you see.

All of these tools serve a handful of high-quality, repeatable setups. Here is what the indicator is built to help you trade.
Change of character reversal
This is the flagship SMC setup, and the indicator assembles it for you. Price is trending, then it prints a change of character against the trend, the first crack in the pattern. You wait for the retrace back into the fresh order block or fair value gap that caused the shift, and you enter there with your stop just beyond the zone. Because the indicator flags the ChoCh the instant it happens and draws the zone automatically, you are ready for the entry before price arrives instead of scrambling to draw it after the fact. Add a change-of-character alert and the platform even tells you when the setup is arming.
Break of structure continuation
In a clean trend, the highest-probability trades are continuations. Wait for a break of structure to confirm the trend is still running, then enter on the pullback into the order block or the discount zone that produced the break. You are trading with the trend, at a smart-money price, with the structure itself confirming your direction. The trend paint bars keep you honest here, so you never fade a trend that is still firmly intact.
Liquidity sweep and reverse
Price hunts stops. It runs the liquidity above equal highs or below equal lows, triggers everyone's stops, and then snaps back the other way, a move that traps the breakout crowd every single day. The equal-high and equal-low markers show you exactly where that liquidity sits, and the trend-line liquidity shows you which diagonal everyone is watching, so you can anticipate the sweep and trade the reversal instead of being the stop that gets run.
Premium and discount entries
The oldest rule in the book: buy low, sell high, but measured against structure rather than gut feel. Only buy in the discount zone and sell in the premium zone, and the automatic fib keeps you on the right side of value on every swing. It is the difference between buying because price looks cheap and buying because price is genuinely at a discount inside a bullish structure, which is where institutions are buying too.
Works on every market and every timeframe
Market structure is universal. The indicator works on index and commodity futures, stocks, ETFs and crypto, and on every timeframe from a one-minute scalp to a daily swing chart. The screenshots on this page are an NQ one-hour chart, a clean timeframe for reading structure, but the same swings, breaks and zones read a five-minute chart and a weekly chart just as clearly. Because it is a native SabrTrader indicator, it renders fast and updates on every bar, so your structure is always current.

What does the Market Structure indicator do?
It reads and draws Smart Money Concepts for you automatically: swing structure (HH/HL/LH/LL), break of structure, change of character, order blocks, fair value gaps, supply and demand zones, breaker blocks, premium and discount fibs, and liquidity. Instead of hand-drawing all of that, you get it labeled objectively and updated on every bar.
Is this an SMC / ICT indicator?
Yes. It is built around Smart Money Concepts and the ICT toolkit: order blocks, fair value gaps, breaker blocks, change of character, liquidity and premium/discount are all detected and drawn to those concepts, with the settings to tune each to your exact method.
What is the difference between break of structure and change of character?
A break of structure is price continuing the trend by taking out the prior swing in the same direction. A change of character is the first break against the trend, an early signal that the market may be reversing. The indicator draws both automatically with distinct styling so you never confuse them.
Can I use it on stocks and crypto?
Yes. It works on any market and any timeframe, including index and commodity futures, stocks, ETFs and crypto, from a one-minute scalp to a daily swing chart.
Is it included, or a paid add-on?
It is included with a SabrTrader Pro, Scale or Lifetime subscription, along with the rest of the premium indicator suite and the AI tools. You can also start on the free tier to explore the platform.
